Beautiful Quotes // Jackaby – Part II

Beautiful Quotes Explination

Beth Jones over at The Books Are Everywhere created the Beautiful Quote meme and I’ve decided to participate while giving it my own little spin.

Yes, yes. I know. I have already done this before but listen.

The last and only time I did Beautiful Quotes I just shared one (1) quote from Jackaby by William Ritter and I just feel like that isn’t enough to show you just how great this book and it’s series is and why you should read them all.

Cloud Separation

Before I jump in, let me tell you a bit about my relationship with quotes from books.
lOVE them!

I have a whole tab/highlighting process that includes colour-coding that I am very proud of. It is also probably the most expensive part of my reading habit because dear lord do I go through a fucking lot of tabs and highlighters.

Now, I don’t read all of my books via physical copies I own because I am forever poor and am trying to be sensible with my habit like a real adult suffering from addiction.

I’m probably the most sensible and responsible addict you’ll ever meet and yes I have genuinely been an addict. Don’t worry I’m not talking about hardcore drugs or anything, I’m responsible remember.

Icon Separation

So in order to hoard all my favourite quotes like a dragon hoarding gold, I spend a lot of my time typing out quotes. Guys, when you’re in this deep, time spent on books seems to be less reading and everything else related to it, or is that just me?

This is all just a roundabout way of telling you that I’m going to try and do these posts more often, hopefully once a week.

It’ll give me a chance to take my favourite quotes outside, get them some fresh air, share them with others.

I read the Jackaby series all through ebook formats. The first three via Overdrive which was how I come across them to begin with and The Dire king, the last book in the series, I got through Netgalley.

I was instantly wrapped up in the story and the characters.

Jackaby the character is best described as a mix between Eddie Redmayne’s Newt Scamander and Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sherlock Holmes.

He’s insanely intelligent, magical and a little bit odd. His assistant Abigail Rook is just as intelligent, magical and odd if just a different strain from than him.

And they’re the perfect platonic pairing I have seen, with the books that follow them being, like them, intelligent, magical and odd.

Lightning Separation

Let’s start off with the first book in the series, Jackaby himself;

I mean… This is just a great life lesson in general. I’m glad I learned it quite early on, but not everyone does so I’m glad to see it in a YA book, especially a historical one.

Hello, shade. Having fun?

Jackaby Quote 4.png

As someone who battles with mental illness, and who has a mother who has counselled people with illnesses like schizophrenia in the past as well as having it run in my family this quote really hit me!

Jackaby Quote 5.png

One of the sayings I use quite often because I am adamant on having my own brand and being known for the sayings I use is that ignorance is only bliss for the ignorant. It’s hell for the rest of us.
Also if this isn’t fucking relevant right now, I don’t know what is.

Abigail Rook is honestly a girl after my own heart, honestly.

Cloud & Lightning Separation

Next week I’ll share my favourite quotes from the second book, Beastly Bones.
So you can look forward to that if you enjoyed this post!
