Month in Review // Uhhhhhhhhh – March

Well didn’t March turn into a shit show!

I don’t really want to talk about out it right now since I was lucky in that March wasn’t totally awful for me but I will touch on it more in my Month Ahead post.

I made this TBR long, knowing I probably wouldn’t get to all of them but I was hopeful.

I think I did a pretty good job considering I ended up with an extra two ARCs that needed to be read before their release in April and I finished reading them.

Hopefully, I’ll knock Rules For Being a Girl out quickly before it’s release on the 12th!

Barbed Wire Heart really was wishful thinking. I swear I’ll get to it soon but my current ARCs have to be prioritised.

Readathons

I’m participating in 4 wonderful readathons during the month of March. The first two are hosted by CW @ The Quiet Pond. The other two I joined late but am still counting books I’ve read this year so far since they don’t have any kind of points/reward system.

🌲 – Pondathon – finished March 7th

💫 – StartOnYourShelfathon

This was kind of forgotten. I just got so focused on the books I was reading on the bus that when I was reading at home I would pick up my tablet to continue reading them instead.

Yes, I did just finish reading this series!

I still haven’t reviewed the books though except for the review from 2017 when I first read only The Raven Boys…And it’s been over a year since I started this series again so I figured since I signed up for Scribd I might as well listen to the series again to refresh my memory before writing the reviews.

I can’t believe the first season is finished!

The Bold Type│Season 4│📺│2017-│💭 Sarah Watson│🌟 Katie Stevens, Aisha Dee, Meghann Fahy│★★★★★│

the bold type

I was very very upset when I realised the last episode was in fact the last episode!

This season had me stressed.

On My Block│Season 3│📺│2018-│💭 Eddie Gonzalez, Jeremy Haft, Lauren Iungerich│🌟 Sierra Capri, Jason Genao, Brett Gray│★★★★★│

on my block

ICONIC!

Every time I think the cliff hangers couldn’t get more shocking and anxiety-inducing the writers say hold my beer.

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist│Season 1│📺│2020│💭 Austin Winsberg│🌟 Jane Levy, Stephanie Styles, Hiro Kanagawa│★★★★

zoeys extraordinary playlist woke up like this

This is the silly, fun, and yet still emotional show that I need in my life . . . I say as if the last three shows I’ve listed didn’t also make me laugh hysterically and sob uncontrollably . . .

Also as soon as my mum and I finished watching episode 7 I told her that my feet were sweating from the stress of it being such a relationship heavy episode and my mum laughed and said I was such a Capricorn. (I got so excited when Zoey said she was a Capricorn too and mum was like, of course, she is.)

Grace and Frankie│Season 6│📺│2015-│💭 Marta Kauffman, Howard J. Morris│🌟 Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Sam Waterston│★★★★│

Finally!!! I finished it.

This was not as funny as previous seasons so I really struggled. I think it’s just frustrating watching characters learn things only to do pretty much the same thing in the next episode.

RuPaul’s Drag Race + Untucked│Season 12│📺│2009-│💭RuPaul│🌟RuPaul, Michelle Visage│★★★│

drag race decision here we go

I am tired.

Listen, I only really watch now to support the queens competing because I’m not a fan of Ru Paul but this season is a mess. Between the controversy and the very blatant favouring happening YET AGAIN, I’m constantly annoyed by each episode but I gotta give it to the non-predator queens for giving it their all and doing the best they can given the circumstances.

I am loving the judges though! I really loved Nicki and Leslie!

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters│🎥│2013│🎬 Thor Freudenthal│🌟 Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario, Brandon T. Jackson│★★★│

sea of monsters what are you doingmusic&films — Luke: “What are You doing? Don't walk on my roof!”...

Honestly, the best line from either movie, hands down!

This was . . . not good and now I see why everyone shits on the PJ adaptations. But I still think y’all are too harsh on the first one though.

Knives Out│🎥│2019│🎬 Rian Johnson│🌟 Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas│★★★★★

I do not have the capacity to explain how bloody brilliant this movie is. Hands down it is now one of my favourites.

THIS MOVIE IS ART.

knives out chris evans we gotta do this more often

Thriving - Plants Purple Flowers

Mostly I’ve just watched a lot of old, bad 2000’s movies.

But I also rewatched She’s The Man for like the 50th time in my life (it has been a while since my last watch though) and it’s just so good. I will never not love it and I will always have a thing for women dressing up as men so they can chase after what they want. Mulan, Viola from She’s the Man, Lila Bard from Shades of Magic are all icons and I will not tolerate slander.

shes the man im brilliant

Goals

Thriving - Keys - Goal Status.PNG

🍃 Continue to go for walks

Listen, the world has turned to shit and I have zero motivation for anything.

🍃 Apply for 5 jobs a week

I didn’t really do this but I did get an interview for one of the jobs I applied for and I am both hopeful and terrified of getting it.

🍃 Read every day – for real this time

HAHAAHAHAH.

🍃 Maybe go to the Oxfam book shop $1 sale???

I did go, it wasn’t really a successful trip but the trips but one of the stores I went to while waiting to start work was a success so it was worth it.

Thriving - Plants Purple Flowers

Not a goal but… I interviewed for a job…and I don’t think I did well, at all.

I tried really hard not to let myself get anxious about it and I think it helped that the thought of getting a full-time job in the middle of a pandemic is legit terrifying. So I managed to at least contain my anxiety over it until I was actually in the interview and then I just rambled a lot and my brain wouldn’t work so I came out of not being totally sure how I did but the longer time there was between me and the interview the more I was able to see I really didn’t do well.

And that was how I closed out my month. My interview was on the 30th. I still haven’t heard anything back and it’s now the 6th and they said I would hear back in 2-3 days if I got the job. But I also applied for another position with the company which I was told they are going through this week. So I’m still very anxious.

(Also I was officially stood down this past week but that didn’t happen until April already started so I’ll go into that more in my Month Ahead post.)

    1. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time!
Sea of Monsters was just an abomination, but I’ll admit it had a couple of moments I enjoyed. But it was almost an entirely different story than the book.
Thank you, I hope your April is going well! ♥️

  2. Nice opening line :’) I think we’re all thinking that.
You did pretty well with your TBR! Congrats 😀
I’ve got The June Boys on my TBR so I’m glad to see you enjoyed it. Same with Belle Revolte!
I’m also excited that you hauled Strange the Dreamer – it’s one of my top two favourite books.
Also omg… I thought I was the only one who thought everyone was too harsh on the first Percy Jackson movie :’) I’ve always been too afraid to say anything, lol.
Hope you have a great April!

    1. Ahaha thanks I try to tell it like it is as much as possible ahah
Thank you! I did better than I thought I would. I swear all my TBRs this year have been hey here’s too many books but it would be sick to read them all but if I don’t whatever time isn’t real anymore anyway hahaha. 2020 has been a whole other mood.

TJB was super enjoyable! Was definitely interesting!! Belle Revolte was such a good book, one of my fave found families!

      I mean, I don’t think it’s a good adaptation but I do think it’s a pretty okay movie.
