Month in Review // I’ve Been on WordPress for 2 Years! – January

Did anyone else’s January last like 3 months?

That’s what it felt like at least.

I really need to start making notes of what happens during the month because I feel like I forget everything but like the second to last week while I start writing these in the last week of the month.

I am out of practice though. The last Month in Review I posted was all the way back in MAY 2019!

That was so long ago. I feel like I’ve aged 5 years since then…

I’m going to preface this MIR with this; I basically did nothing but be in pain and watch The L Word.

What a great fail for the start of the year but I never really count January because I never make a decision on the rules until like half way through and also time isn’t real in January and I don’t know if I’m even real anymore. Am I a ghost?? Can I ghost even read books???

Fingers crossed next month!

So much sapphic drama.

The OG was a struggle to get through mostly because of Jenny and how Max is treated. I’m really loving Gen Q so far though!

🍃  Celebrated my birthday!

We went to my favourite burger place and went to the museum when all my intended plans went to shit. But it was really nice and my brother came and he’s been really kind lately so it all turned out well.

🍃  Went the Museum

I haven’t been to the museum in years but it was one of my fave places to visit as a teenager. I took my mum with me and she got to see the Giant Squid for the first time. It has been there for years but she hasn’t been there since before it was installed. Getting to watch her be so excited every time we went up another floor to see a bit more of the squid made my plans going to shit worth it.

🍃  It’s been 2 years since I started Use Your Words!

I can’t believe I’ve been doing this for 2 years! Use Your Words has gone through so many changes since I started and I’ve taken so many hiatus’s along the way but I’m so glad to have this little place for my books and history and I look forward to the future of this blog!

🍃  Started taking bookish photos again!

I don’t think I’ll return to bookstagram again because it’s just so much work but I will be using them in my blog posts and I love how they’ve come out so far even if it really hurt my back taking them.

🍃  Flare Ups! Being Ill!

This month has been hell on my body. I’ve just been super exhausted and fatigued and then I had a few really bad pain flare ups which mean I get bad brain fog too so basically I’ve been just a mess all month. And then our fridge stopped working and I think I got food poisoning from it??? But also it could have been that a matcha latte that I ordered was made with the wrong milk??? And it’s impossible to know for sure! So I was in a lot of pain again and also feeling oh so very sick! Hello toilet, my new best friend!

🍃  I’m going to see Six The Musical!

I don’t actually think I’ve ever seen a musical??? If I have I don’t remember. I went to see plays for school but I don’t recall any musicals. But like, they sound like something I would love!

And I’ve been dying to see one for ages.

In particular, I really wanted to see Six! As soon as I saw the adverts for it I was sold! But I figured I’d probably never see it because it was in London and even if it did ever come to Australia it would probably never come to my city and I probably wouldn’t be able to afford to go.

But then Facebook was advertising that they were coming to my city so I signed up to be notified when tickets were available.

Then my mum asked me what I wanted for my birthday. Normally I wouldn’t ask because I knew it was going to be expensive. She’d be buying tickets for me and herself to go but I think she saw how much I wanted to see it and could afford to do it so she literally bought the tickets right there. I’m pretty sure I cried. And then I made her watch a bunch of videos on Youtube.

It’s not until June but guys, I’m so excited.

🍃  I went to see Heathers The Musical!

So I think because of my interest in Six, Facebook decided to advertise this musical by a theatre group in a seaside town about 2 hours away from where I live.

The tickets were pretty cheap so I saved it to show mum later but I doubted she’d want to travel that far.

Then the had a competition to win double passes on their Facebook page so I thought why not enter? I never win anything but there’s no harm in trying. I didn’t win, but they did say that there was another competition being run for double passes by the local newspaper. So I entered it and hoped for the best. Well the next morning, literally just over 12 hours later, I got a call saying I’d won and I’d be going to the opening night in 4 days time!

Funnily enough, I only watched the film for the first time last year and really enjoyed it!

The musical was really good even though it was hot and sticky because we got a storm in the middle of summer but I enjoyed it so much and it’s just made me that much more excited to see Six!

  1. Ahhh!!! I am so flattered you included my post here Grey, thank you so much!

Sex Ed is ICONIC!!!! I literally can’t get over how wholesome Amy and Maeve are and all the wonderful female friendship things that happened this season.

Also I love that you use keys. I literally added The Nowhere Girls to my TBR for its fat rep.

    1. You’re welcome Cary!

I would die for Amy and Maeve, their friendship, and just all the friendships this season were golden!

Thank you! I always want to include as much info as possible but without it getting weighed down in the details. I used to use way more keys but it got a bit excessive aha so I try to jsut include the important bits.

The Nowwhere Girls is so good and the fat rep is brilliant too. Anger is a Gift also has great fat rep but from a teen boys POV and it’s chefs kiss if you’re looking for more!
