It’s that time of year again!
Hello, I’m back from semi-hiatus. It’s been a minute. Actually, it’s been 6 months.
Listen, life has been a lot these past 6 months and ya girl was tired. But I’m not going to get in details because it’s Christmas time and I want to focus on that! I’ll do a proper update in January. For now, let’s jump into holiday reads!
Now, I’ve never been someone who has read seasonal books or reread old favourites at Christmas time which I know a lot of people love to do.
So this list, for me, is going to be Christmas books I want to read around Christmas time. It’s going to feature books I’m reading for Christmas this year and books I’d like to read in years to come!

│My True Love Gave to Me│Stephanie Perkins + More│
He says presents aren’t important, but I think they are – not because of how much they cost, but for the opportunity they provide to say I understand you.
This book is a holiday-themed anthology!
I’ve started reading it already and I’m enjoying it so far. The stories I’ve read have been magical and funny and it’s really putting me in the Christmas spirit!
│The Afterlife of Holly Chase│Cynthia Hand│
Without stories, we’re all just lonely islands.
This is the book that came on my radar and made me decide that I wanted to start reading Christmas books at Christmas time. I’ve seen good reviews and since joining the book blogging community, I’ve seen so many people get in the spirit through books, and I feel left out! Well, not this year!
│The Holiday│Jane Green, Jennifer Coburn, Liz Ireland│
All I could see was that the one year I was really primed for holiday cheer, no one else was cooperating.
Although The Afterlife of Holly Chase made me decide I wanted to start reading Christmas book at Christmas time at some point, The Holiday is the book that made me decide this year was the year after the woman I cat sit for gave me this book, among others.
When I saw this in the bag of books she gave I decided that this year was the year!
│Let it Snow│John Green, Maureen Johnson, Lauren Myracle│
I always had this idea that you should never give up a happy middle in the hopes of a happy ending, because there is no such thing as a happy ending.
Honestly, I only really want to read this because it’s a Christmas book and the new Netflix film looks really good!
Plus this one is more on the collection of novellas side which I haven’t read before.
│Horrible Christmas│Terry Deary│
Horrible Christmas tells you all the festive facts you ever wanted to find out but were too stuffed full of mince pies to ask.
I know this one is a little left-field but I love history and the Horrible Histories series is entertaining! So why not combine it with Christmas?
│The Lights│Carrie Pack│
Before the horror that was my darkest Christmas, the lights were a welcome sight.
Sapphic Christmas horror story!!!!
This one comes to this list courtesy of the mini-review Destiny @ Howling Libraries posted last year!
I love a good atmospheric horror, and what’s more atmospheric than horror set at Christmas time.
│That Old Emerald Mountain Magic│Cara Malone│
Can Joy help Carmen and her family rediscover the true spirit of Christmas?
A fluffy romance at a ski resort? Sounds magical!
I want to start reading more fluffy books and I feel like Christmas is maybe the best time of year to do so.
│The Bureau of Holiday Affairs│Twice Told Tales #3│Andi Marquette│
Executive Robin Preston has dedicated her life to climbing the corporate ladder, using whatever means necessary. In the shark-infested culture at Frost Enterprises, anything goes, and Robin is a master at the game.
This one is another retelling of A Christmas Carol but sapphic so sign me the fuck up!
Although this is the third book in a series, I believe its a series of stand-alones so I won’t have to read the books before it first…hopefully.
│Under a Falling Star│Jae│
Dee blames her instant attraction to Austen on her head wound, not the magic of the falling star. She’s determined not to act on it, especially since Austen has no idea that Dee is practically her boss.
The cover and the rating got me plus it seems to pop up on all the sapphic Christmas lists so I had to add it!
│Season’s Meetings│Amy Dunne│
Could the festive road trip from hell actually lead to love?
Sapphic Christmas in Scotland, where the love interests get stuck together in the middle of nowhere thanks to a snowstorm????
MY GAY ASS IS SOLD!
Honourable Mention
│Harry Potter│J.K. Rowling│
“One can never have enough socks,” said Dumbledore. “Another Christmas has come and gone and I didn’t get a single pair. People will insist on giving me books.”
This seems to be a go-to Christmas read for a lot of people. I feel like it’s such a good choice and would get you feeling nice and cozy for the season.
Maybe this will be my Christmas read next year?
