Grey Tags // Book Adaptations, The Dreaded Classics & Audiobooks – I Should Have Read That

It’s Thursday Tag Time!

drag race rupaul lets go.gif

I’m so excited! I’m currently packing for my June trip to my aunts.

Yes, I’m writing this in JUNE! Nothing like pre-writing posts months in advanced to get you confused with the past, present and future.

And I think I may finally have the hang of it? I’ve bought packing cubes because my suitcase is always mess and I can never find anything once I’m there so hopefully I’ve finally found a process that works. I guess I’ll find out once I’m there!

I’m looking forward to having a break from studying even if I am behind on my work because boy do I need a good brain reset. hopefully I come back with a clearer mind, ready to push forward!

spoiler alert: I did not.

I’m glad to have this tag to distract me from over thinking what I need to take with me and how I’m going to get everything done tomorrow before I leave.

So thank you to Jillian @ Jillian The Bookish Butterfly for tagging me! I can’t wait to get started!

I also just want to mention that I’ve changed a couple of things…again.

It turns out the emojis don’t look different on the computer, it’s just my work computer so I’m reverting back to my light storm emojis as bullet points. I’ve already changed the representation emojis and I like them better as nature ones so they’re staying! And I like my new storm icon separators so they’re also staying!

I’ve also changed the background for my whole blog. It’s not really that different. It’s just gone from marble to my own storm graphic.

I’ve also changed my key and explanation graphics.

When my Down the TBR Hole posts start up again in a couple of weeks you’ll see the new graphic at the top of each post.

I’ve gotten rid of the marble background all together and am sticking to my own rain, lightning and cloud ones.

⚡ Lighting is now the background for my explanation graphics

💧 Rain is the background for the key graphics

☁️ I’ve not figured out what I’m going to use the cloud ones for yet but at least I have them available for something later on.

I think that’s all the changes??? Will I ever go on hiatus and not change anything??? Even on only a semi-hiatus??? No, probably not.

The Questions

A book that a friend is always telling you to read.

born a crimeBorn a CrimeTrevor Noah│

People love to say, “Give a man a fish, and he’ll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he’ll eat for a lifetime.” What they don’t say is, “And it would be nice if you gave him a fishing rod.” That’s the part of the analogy that’s missing.

Every time I visit my cousin she asks if I’ve read this book yet and every time I have to explain that I haven’t because my Audible TBR is eight miles long and I. am. trying.

I’m going to be disappointing her yet again this month because this month I read the My Favorite Murder book, Stay Sexy and Don’t Get Murdered because it came out last month and I’m reading the new Try Guys book, The Hidden Power of Fucking Up because it came out this month.

A book that’s been on your TBR forever, yet you still haven’t picked it up.

three dark crowns TDCThree Dark Crowns│Three Dark Crowns #1│Kendare Blake│

Three dark queens
Are born in a glen,
Sweet little triplets
Will never be friends

Three dark sisters
All fair to be seen,
Two to devour
And one to be Queen

I PRE-ORDERED this book.

I never pre-order books.

Why did I pre-order it??? Couldn’t tell you.

I’m not even sure I want to read it.

Actually I think I might see if my cousin wants it . . .

Icon Separation

A book in a series you started, but haven’t gotten around to finishing yet.

and i darken the conquerors saga TCSAnd I Darken│The Conqueror’s Saga│Kiersten White│

“On our wedding night,” she said, “I will cut out your tongue and swallow it. Then both tongues that spoke our marriage vows will belong to me, and I will be wed only to myself. You will most likely choke to death on your own blood, which will be unfortunate, but I will be both husband and wife and therefore not a widow to be pitied.”

I read the first book in, wow, 2016! And immediately knew I would love the series.

So I decided to wait until all the books were out before I picked it up again, rereading the first book first, of course.

But now the series is out and I own them all and I have no clue when I’ll get around to reading it.

I want to so much but I’m not able to read much at the moment and I want to finish The Raven Cycle and I already started the Percy Jackson series so I should probably finish that series first too???

A classic you’ve always liked the sound of, but never actually read.

the great gatsby.jpgThe Great Gatsby│F. Scott Fitzgerald

There are only the pursued, the pursuing, the busy and the tired.

Me and classics don’t get along but if I was going to read one, it would be The Great Gatsby.

Plus I do have it on my kindle already.

Plus my co-worker tells me I should read it.

It’s just a question of whether I’ll pick it up.

Icon Separation

A popular book it seems everyone but you has read.

There’s so many if I listed them all we’d be here all day.

Mostly they’re books that were really popular in YA that I missed the hype train for because I wasn’t on Goodreads yet and had never heard of them before.

Most of them I’m fine having missed out on, and the few I wasn’t I’m pretty sure I’ve read already.

Icon Separation

A book that inspired a film/TV adaption that you love, but just haven’t read yet.

simon vs the homo sapiens agenda.jpgSimon Vs. the Homo Sapiens AgendaBecky Albertalli│

Sometimes it seems like everyone knows who I am except me.

I watched the movie, Love, Simon, last year and I absolutely loved it. Like it’s one of my favourite movies of all time.

But I just have not gotten around to reading the book.

I think I’m lowkey worried it’s not going to live up to the film for me.

I was planing on reading it for Pride month but I barely read anything in June because of my course.

I’m sure I’ll get to it eventually!

Icon Separation

A book you see all over Instagram but haven’t picked up.

I don’t really spend time on bookstagram any more so I don’t have an answer for this one.

  1. Yeay thank you for the tag! I understand being worried about reading a book after having seen the adaptation but I found the book so much better than the movie. ❤
