Grey Tags // My Fave Posts, Things & Why I started Blogging – Behind the Blogger Book Tag

Its Thursday Tag Time

drag race rupaul cant wait to see how this turns out

I’m honestly on such a roll with these tags. I’m finally getting through them all and I’m knocking them out in quick succession!

Not that you can tell since you’re getting them once a week.

I feel so productive when I manage to get multiple posts written in one day!

I was tagged for this one by the one and only Jillian @ Jillian The Bookish Butterfly.

The Questions

Why did you start blogging and why have you kept blogging?

I started blogging because I knew I needed a space for me to be myself and talk about books with people who also love books.

And then it became my safe space to escape from the damaging home environment I was living in and couldn’t escape from.

I’ve kept blogging because I really love doing it. It’s a fantastic outlet for me and it pushes me to better myself and my writing.

Not only that, but by combining both books and history into one blog, I give myself space to research history and chalk it up to blog content as much as it is a hunger to learn.

Also my therapist says it’s good for me.

What is your favourite type of blog post to write?

I love doing tags and top ten lists but the posts I love the most are my Grey Learns posts.

I learn so much doing them and they really push me. They always end up being the posts I’m most proud of even though they take so much work and I often don’t give myself enough time to do them.

What are your top 3 favourite blog posts?

☁️ Grey Watches // Love, Simon – Why Representation is God Damn Fucking Important

I didn’t come to play with this post. I felt very passionate about the importance of movies like Love, Simon and I’m really proud of who this post turned out.

☁️ Grey Learns // A Groundbreaking Journalist, Strong Abolitionist and Feminist – Ida B. Wells

This is probably the Learns post I put the most research into, and I’m super proud of it!

What are some of your favourite things to do to relax?

wallaroo beachRelax??? What’s that???

I tend to gravitate to reality TV when I need to switch my brain off. Also binge watching a good show on Netflix with my mum is something I sometimes just need.

And I love visiting my aunt near the beach. I get fresh air, and I can vent about life and the world with my cousins. I can read for as long as I want and spend time with my baby cousins. I can play with my aunt’s resin and listen to her talk about the video game she plays. I can watch endless K-pop music videos with my cousins and go for walks for as long as I want.

For a house that’s so fucking chaotic, I almost always leave feeling lighter than when I arrived.

What are your proudest blogging moments?

I think knowing when to take a break. I’m someone who tends to put far too much pressure on myself and I can be my own worst enemy.

I’m also really proud of finally finding the right look for my blog and creating my own graphics.

And I’m really proud that I’m still blogging because I have a bad habit of starting and never finishing things.

What are your top 3 pet peeves?

☁️ People trying to talk to me when I’m clearly busy doing something else like reading or when I’m at work and on the phone

I’m used to the whole people trying to talk to me when I’m reading and I’ll either tell them I want to read or I’ll pretend I’m listening and continue reading but how rude can you be to try and talk to someone who is on the phone, its a very physical cue to tell you I’M FUCKING BUSY.

on phone
Does anyone know what this is from??? I’m intrigued.

☁️ People barging onto things like public transport and elevators before waiting for people to get off.

There’s no room! Why wouldn’t you let people get off before you try and wedge yourself on???? There’s exactly zero logic in that.

Rosa Small talk B99.gif☁️ Small talk. I’ll never not hate it. I don’t understand it and it makes me uncomfortable because it’s all just about niceties instead of actual kindness.

Don’t ask me how I am unless you actually want to know and please, please, don’t talk to me about the weather because my brain will literally shut down.

What’s something your followers don’t know about you?

I don’t know if I have anything, I’m pretty big on oversharing if you haven’t noticed!

I was born without the cartilage in my nose, it grew in later. So I used to be able to pull a face when I was little that would make my nose go completely flat, like I was Voldemort. And now I can curl the end of my nose over onto itself.

Also my hands and ankles are pretty flexible. But it turns out that’s because I’m hypermobile.

  1. thank you so much for the tag!!!!! I agree with small talk oh god, I hate it so much. it just feels like a giant waste of time lksjdf ((when my depression was extremely bad, I would literally just stare at people when they tried to make small talk,,,,,,,it was so rude but I couldn’t bring myself to care sldnfdls))

    1. You’re welcome!

I’ve done that but less because of depression and more because their jokes weren’t funny and kept trying to talk to me when I was busy all the time so I’d just stare at him or the computer screen until he walked away.

It’s probably not very nice but I usually make it quite clear when I don’t like someone (though I have to have a strong feeling of dislike/hate to do this). I hate lying and being nice to someone I don’t like feels too much like lying and being fake.

With small talk I usually just do the smile and laugh and nod thing until they leave me alone.
