I’m back with a Top Ten Tuesday for you this week!
I haven’t done one of these since December! I schedule out my posts at the beginning of the year which sounds far more intense and organised than it actually is.
I basically just form a rough guideline for myself to make sure I hit the main posts like Month in Review, Month Ahead, Grey Reads and Down The TBR Hole, each month. All other posts have to fit around those.
So I check what the topics are for Top Ten Tuesday each month and if there are any I like that fall on a free Tuesday then I’ll do it. More often than not it doesn’t work out that way.
But this month I wanted to take advantage of this weeks topic—audio freebie! Now that I’m trying out including audiobooks in my reading each month I wanted to sit down and work out what audiobooks could be in my future and I’ve found so many to choose from!
So here are ten audiobooks I’m looking forward to reading!
I’m going to be choosing five books I found on Audible and five books I found available from my library on overdrive and I’ll be avoiding books I want to reread except for one honourable mention I’ll be including at the end.
If you would like to buy any of the following books please consider using my Book Depository Affliate link!
Past Top Ten Tuesdays
Information on these books are listed in the following order: title, author, narrator, platform.
Nothing ever truly faded. Time only dulled the edges.
In my Out of My Comfort Zone tag I listed The Good Daughter as a book that is out of my comfort zone and would like to read. So I figure why not give it a go on audio???
│Born a Crime│Trevor Noah│Trevor Noah│Audible│
When you make the effort to speak someone else’s language, even if it’s just basic phrases here and there, you are saying to them, ‘I understand that you have a culture and identity that exists beyond me. I see you as a human being.’
I love Trevor Noah. He’s a gift to this world and we honestly don’t deserve him.
I have a sneaking suspicion that memoirs might become my audiobooks to read.
│Norse Mythology│Neil Gaiman│Neil Gaiman│Audible│
“Because,” said Thor, “when something goes wrong, the first thing I always think is, it is Loki’s fault. It saves a lot of time.”
I love Thor and I love Loki so why wouldn’t I want to read this????
I feel like it would be a very immersive experience if I had it read to me so of course it’s on the list.
│Stalking Jack the Ripper│Kerri Maniscalco, James Patterson│Nicola Barber│Audible│
“Pretend I am as capable as a man? Please, sir, do not value me so little!”
This book has been on my TBR for ages and I really do want to get to it!
Hopefully having it on my audio shortlist will mean I get to it this year!
│Nine Perfect Strangers│Liane Moriarty│Caroline Lee│Audible│
Sometimes your life changes so slowly and imperceptibly that you don’t notice it at all until one day you wake up and think, ‘How did I get here?’ But other times, life changes in an instant with a lightning stroke of good or bad luck with glorious or tragic consequences.
I really loved Moriarty’s Big Little Lies so I’m ready to dive into another one of her books!
│Wishful Drinking│Carrie Fisher│Carrie Fisher│Overdrive│
Sometimes you can only find Heaven by slowly backing away from Hell.
I love Carrie fisher. I love open dialogue about mental illness and addiction so this is exactly my kind of book and it’s about time I fucking read it.
│The Kiss Quotient│Helen Hoang│Carly Robins│Overdrive│
She wasn’t broken. She saw and interacted with the world in a different way, but that was her.
Me and romance have not mixed well in the past but I’m trying to be less judgy and be more open to the romantic genre and I feel like diverse romance with as little problematic behaviour as possible is the best place to start.
To All The Boys I’ve loved before didn’t let me down and I’m hoping this doesn’t either.
│The Diviners│Libba Bray│January LaVoy│Overdrive│
“How do you invent a religion?” Evie asked.
Will looked over the top of his spectacles. “You say, ‘God told me the following,’ and then wait for people to sign up.”
It’s diverse! It’s set in the 1920s! It’s fantasy! Also LOOK! AT! THAT! COVER!
I have yet to see a single bad word said about this book so I refuse to live in a world where I don’t enjoy this and I feel like maybe now is the time to finally pick this book up and listen to what it has to say.
│The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein│Kiersten White │Katharine McEwan│Overdrive│
I sought to puncture Heaven and instead discovered Hell.
I just read a book that was hugely influenced by Frankenstein and so I’m in the mood for more. Also white wrote The Conquerors Saga and that’s bloody brilliant.
I want to be transported to a dark and creepy world and I want to be there now. Also this book had me at ‘Dark Descent’.
│Scrappy Little Nobody│Anna Kendrick│Anna Kendrick│Overdrive│
I’m trying to make big decisions without asking “an adult.” Because that’s me. I’m the adult.
Anna Kendrick is maybe one of my favourite people. she’s hilarious and honest and just so fun to listen to I’d honestly listen to anything she has to say and I’ll always watch whatever movie she’s in, even if it takes me a while to get to it.
So of course I’m going to read her book! And what’s that? I can listen to her reading it for me??? SOLD!
Every little thing about you can be a weapon, if you’re clever enough.
Literally everyone is talking about this messy little book and for good reason. It’s fucking phenomenal and I won;t hear a bad word about it.
I read this as an ebook but everybody keeps saying the audiobook is just better and like how???? Also I need it!!!
