Wrap Up + TBR // June + July – Pride Month is Over and Now I’m Sad

What a month!

I managed to over-commit myself, had a huge breakdown, reached my reading goal for the year and tried to consume as much LGBTQIAP+ content as possible!

Cloud Separation

☁️ Sense8 had their grand finale episode and I cried so hard!
☁️ Queer Eye is back and I wish I had more time to watch all the new episodes but I will take what I can get!
☁️ Panic at the Disco’s new album came out and I love it so much! High Hopes is the soundtrack to my life right now, it’s like my own little cheer track.
☁️ For the People, my new fave court drama officially has a queer main character! Also, the show, in general, is just so fucking brilliant.
☁️ I discovered a new queer artist, Ieuan thanks to the Pride playlist Keiynan Lonsdale created from Apple Music called Wielders of the Rainbow Magic. Ieuan’s track, Boys That Dance has been stuck in my head on loop for days and I’m not mad about it.
☁️ I read so many good books!!! Like how??? Why??? Is this gonna continue??? Fuck I hope so!
☁️ My stepdad finally agreed to let me have my cat, Charlie, inside with me! Mostly I think it was less him agreeing to it and more my mum telling him it was happening, but either way, it’s helped with my mental health!
☁️ I saw The Incredibles 2 at the cinema!! I’ve been waiting so long for this movie and it was perfect!
☁️ Miss Vanjie…RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 10 came to an end and although I’m disappointed about a lot of things this season, I still love seeing the community come together for the finale and watch a bunch of men in dresses lip sync their asses off!
☁️ Love, Simon won the best kiss at the MTV Movie and TV Awards!!! And Keiynan Lonsdale accepted it in the most magnificent outfit I have ever seen. My boy is living his best life.

Wow! So many highlights!!! No wonder I’m in such a better head space! I’m not going to list all my lowlights because I’m trying to focus on the positives of life and the lowlights can suck a bag of dicks.

YouTube Love

This month has been so amazing! It’s hard not to enjoy yourself when there’s so much love being spread around the community for Pride month. I wanted to take a moment to share some great videos on YouTube that made my month more enjoyable.

☁️ Tyler Oakley’s Chosen Family Series was back for a second season this Pride and it was just so insightful and emotional, and just a really good thing to bring to the community.
☁️ Buzzfeed’s Queer Prom was back for its second year! I do wish we got more content like we did last year but it was still really great!
☁️ Piera Forde is my favourite Booktuber ever! She’s a fellow Aussie, she’s real and has the mouth of a sailor; that’s my kind of gal! This month she posted a Red Rising RPG Night that she had with her friends and OMG, I’ve not even read the books but that looks so fun! If only I had friends that would play it with me!
☁️ Sorted Food did a Harry Potter Ultimate Food Battle and it was hilarious as always and magical!

I should probably get to the books now right?? I’m sure that’s what you’re all here for!

Woah that’s so many books! So many diverse books! Honestly, at this point in my life, I ain’t got time for boring ass white cis man-oriented heteronormative able-bodied bullshit. It’s 20gayteen for fuck’s sake, I want more gays than straights thanks. I want the content I consume to be as diverse as the real world. So, I’m trying to focus on picking up books with a diverse cast of characters!

In my last Wrap Up & TBR, I talked about how I was going to focus on reading library books for the rest of the year. I’ve definitely stuck by that as you can see. If you want to keep track of my library loan reads you can check it out on my 2018 Library Love Shelf on Goodreads.
